More examples of metadata saved in digital photograph files

Here is a comparison of the metadata I was able to retrieved from digital photographs created with a smartphone, iPad tablet and a scanner.

The following details apply to all of the photos:

File type: JPEG
Colour profile: sRGB
Colour depth: 24 bit = "true colour" = 16,777,216 available colours

I have listed how many colours each photo contains. That data is not saved in the metadata but was simply an interesting statistic one of my photo editors provided.

Story

My mother enjoys gardening. All winter long she has been asking me to take photographs of her plants on the windowsill as the flowers take turns blooming. As a dutifully son I am willing to cooperate but there is a problem. My mother told me not to touch her flowers! She does not want to risk the possibility that I might spill some water or tip over a plant. She is terrified that if I try picking up a flower pot to move it to a better location for photographing I might clumsily drop it on her carpeted floor. So what am I to do? There is bright sunlight coming in the window. The weather changes from one photo session to the next. I am on the shadow side of the flowers looking at a silhouette. Within the limited space available I have tried moving around the room taking photos from different angles. Waiting until very late at night when all the neighbours were in bed with their lights turned off I have tried photographing the flowers in total darkness with my camera flash.
